Solar power prices and grid parity in Arabian Gulf

Concentrated solar power investment costs are declining and it may not be long before this is a cost effective option in high irradiance markets like Saudi Arabia, the Gulf and North Africa. InĀ our recent study of Saudi solar investment potential ERAS identified a number of areas where local investment in components could contribute to lower capex costs and stimulate local economies. In countries like Saudi Arabia with access to low cost capital and labour, ample mineral resources and the potential to capture carbon credits, generation costs of less than 4 cents per kWh could be achievable in the near future.
