Saudi Arabia is set to become one of the top three global markets for solar energy. It has an ambitious target of producing 25% of its power needs from solar energy by 2032. In addition, SWCC plans to convert all desalination capacity to solar RO by 2050.
In its June 2012 study, ERAS estimate that total investment expenditure in solar will average $7.4 billion per year from 2015 to 2032.
